Frost on the Pumpkin
Summer is over. It's that simple here in the heartland. One day it's 85 degrees and the next it's 55 and windy. I like the seasons here. Four distinct seasons, each with a clear beginning and end. No summer in November here! I think it's because the land is flat and all those fronts from Canada just spill across the prairies. There's nothing between us and our neighbors in the north except Minnesota!
There was frost on my windshield the past couple of mornings and I had to root around in the closet to find my warm fleece jacket. I passed on the opportunity to go to the West Delaware football game tonight because all my winter clothes are still packed...and it's supposed to go down to 29 degrees.
Oh, we'll have some more warm days but the nights won't be warm anymore. It won't be long before we're seeing the first snowfall.
