Catching Up
The election happened a week ago and it's taken me this long to process what happened. The initial elation is over and my feet are finally planted firmly on the (wet, muddy) ground. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and I have hope that better days are coming. I hope I can convey to my kids just how historic election day will be.
I'm going to the courthouse later this week to change my voter registration from "Democrat" to "Independent", which is the camp in which I belong. I worked for Obama and helped him get elected, I participated in my local Demcratic Central Committee in the year before the election, but it's time to go back to my free-wheeling political views - some a bit conservative, some middle of the road, and most way left of center. I hate labels anyway.
New meds! Yeah!! I'm out of the bipolar funk that lasted way too long. Abilify is doing its stuff - I have energy, my house is getting clean, I can sort through all the crap rolling around in my head, I can concentrate. Some side effects like loss of appetite are appearing. Still waiting for the side effect my husband wishes for!
Cold, icky weather is upon us. Last weekend was a doozy - wind, snow, sleet. The coming weekend will likely be the same. It's hard to believe that just last Monday it was 75 degrees. You gotta love Iowa - kids were wearing shorts and winter coats!
I've been talking to my friend about a 1000 mile road trip in the spring/summer. She lives in Virginia and wants to visit Iowa. I reminded her of our long-ago high school plans for a road trip that never seemed to happen. Ah, now that we have a few more years on us, I think it's time to cut loose and go all Thelma and Louise (minus the violence). I'll probbaly take Amtrak back to Virginia to see the parents then drive back to Iowa with Friend.
That's all.
