Tomorrow is a big night...
Tomorrow is a big night for the Delaware County (IA) Women for Obama. We're holding our first community event - a celebration of Women's Equality Day commemorating the passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. Several of us spent a couple of evenings calling women in the County who are registered Democrats and inviting them to attend our event. It looks like we'll have 30 or so attending, which is a decent crowd for a small community.
As the Chairwoman of the group, I will be moderating the event. I met with our county organizer at lunch this afternoon and worked out an agenda. I still have to put down on paper my thoughts about why I support Senator Obama. There's just so much I could say to encourage these women to vote for our candidate and I feel a big responsibility to do a decent job.
This event is one of many being held across Iowa and we will all be able to participate in a conference call with Alfre Woodard, an actress and well known activist. We'll spend some time giving a presentation on how to talk to other women about Senator Obama and his stand on issues pertaining to women. We're making sure to allow plenty of time for socializing and enjoying the dessert and coffee that our women's group is providing.
All of this amazes me...that I have gotten so involved with this campaign. It's something that I've never done before, but really enjoy. I suppose my deep support of Senator Obama makes it easier to lend my voice to his campaign. I'm convinced more than ever that one person, one voter, can make a difference.
Please vote....
